I want to remember everything about my year in Ndola, Zambia. I plan on taking advantage of this fantastic job opportunity and the beauty that Africa has to offer.

Muli Shani!?! (Bwino Bwino)
I've learned a few new words/phrases...
Mushale Bwino: Have a safe stay
Zacoma: Thank you
Fileyenda Shani: How are things moving?
MY BEMBA NAME: Mapalu meaning Blessings (Thanks :))
After 10 is off of Independence in the city of Kitwe, the second biggest city in Zambia. I've said many times to my friends at work that I would LOVE to work out of the Kitwe office. It's my favorite city in Zambia thus far. After 10 is a restaurant that serves all sorts of food from chicken wings and cakes to schwarmas and milkshakes. My favorite menu item is the KAFTA sandwich. It's lovely.
At the office one of the staff brought AMAKOLE, which is a type of gum. It takes time to get use to, I can't say that I'll have it often.
I've been walking a great deal the past couple weeks... to the grocery store, to the shops, to town etc. It's been great, because I'm really getting a feel for the roads and where everything is. I've found some awesome coffee shops, package stores and grocery stores.
Phillippa and I got a TV for the house to watch the Olympics. The ceremony was a hoot, and very English. I'm Team USA allllll the way. Jamaica, Guyana and England are always in my heart. I will be in London in exactly 4 days!!!!!! Can't wait to see my sister!!!!!!!
Please enjoy the photos:

Nsobe Game Park
It's been a while since I last posted! I will try to keep it more regular for my time here, but the internet is hit or miss a lot of the time.
**Taking a long weekend at a cabin definitely made me miss home and friends. **
The group grilled a TON of food, and it was perfect for the 4th of July! It was "Heroes Day" on the 4th and "Unity Day" on the 5th of July for Zambians.
Please enjoy the pictures!
For the 4th of July weekend the housemates and I went to NSOBE GAME PARK (http://www.nsobegamecamp.com/). We rented one of the cabins for two nights, which could comfortably have 8 people (we had 4) for about 1,000,000K (200 USD). The scenery was perfect, we had a gorgeous view of the lake along with a fire pit, grill and picnic table. The first evening we went on the game drive, which cost 50,000K (10 USD). We didn't see any big game, but we saw a few vervet monkeys driving in and a variety of antelope; sable, puku, bush back.

Nontaleo!
Monday was the start of the Zambian International Trade Fair (http://zitf.org.zm/?event=zambia-international-trade-fair-2012). It's located in the Industrial Area of Ndola. The entrance fee was 15,000 Kwacha ($3 USD). The fair was for all ages and career backgrounds. There was food, gardening seeds, copper jewelry, industrial machines etc. I bought a beautiful copper bracelet for 10,000 Kwacha ($2 USD). I'm quite a fan of bargaining, and today was my first opportunity.

Muli Shani!?
I was able to go to Lusaka for the day. It's very different from what I imagined. It's not as picturesque as Ndola, but it does give you a 'city life' vibe. I didn't get a chance to go to the American Embassy, I hear it's a gorgeous structure... next time.
Lusaka is not the original capitol of Zambia, initially it was Livingstone. Lusaka is more of a central location between Livingstone and the Copperbelt (McIntyre, 2008)

The "Proflight" from Ndola to Lusaka was only 45 minutes.

I got a chance to read the Zambia Times on the flight from Ndola to Lusaka.

KITFO! |
FiNaLlY I got Kitfo! Kitfo and my mom's Ox Tail are the two things I miss the most about food in the States. My next project is to make Tej (honey wine).
The Kitfo was wonderful, but I could live without the injere.
I must say that the sunset in Ndola is lovely... judge for yourself.
